Prepare stronger interview answers with STAR

Build concise examples that show what you did, why you did it and what happened.

Structure the evidence

STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action and Result. Give just enough background to make the example understandable, then spend most of the answer explaining your own actions.

Describe the choices you made, obstacles you handled and people you worked with. Finish with a measurable result where possible and explain what you learned.

Create an example bank

Prepare examples covering teamwork, priorities, communication, problem solving, setbacks, customer service and improvement. One strong experience can support different questions, but avoid forcing it into every answer.

Practise aloud so the structure feels natural rather than memorised. Aim for a focused answer, then allow the interviewer to ask for more detail.
