Interviews

Good questions to ask at the end of an interview

Use your questions to assess the role and show that you are thinking seriously about the work.

Ask about success

Useful questions explore what the successful person should achieve in the first three to six months, how performance is assessed and which challenges need attention first.

You can also ask how the team works together, what support is available and why the vacancy has arisen. These answers help you judge whether the role is right for you.

Adapt to the conversation

Do not ask every prepared question if the interviewer has already answered it. Refer back to something discussed and request clarification or greater detail.

Questions about pay, flexibility and benefits are legitimate, but choose the right stage and tone. End by asking about the next step and expected timetable.
