Remote, hybrid or on-site: assess the real working pattern
Clarify location expectations before accepting a role and calculate the practical effect on your week.

Look beyond the label
Hybrid can mean anything from occasional meetings to four office days each week. Check the normal workplace, required attendance, travel to other sites and whether arrangements are contractual or discretionary.
For remote roles, ask whether you must live in a particular part of the UK and how equipment, expenses, security and team communication are handled.
Assess the complete trade-off
Calculate commuting time and cost, not only distance. Consider concentration, caring responsibilities, learning opportunities, social contact and how the team actually collaborates.
Discuss working patterns professionally and early enough to avoid misunderstandings. The best arrangement is one that supports both the work and a sustainable routine.
